To verify opened ports:

  • Test site access to confirm applications are working as expected.
  • Use the router admin console to view active triggers and forwarding rules.

  • Check detailed router logs for any errors or blocked connections.

Additionally, monitor router security feeds and alerts. Use a strong admin password and disable remote admin access if possible.

Closing ports and router security

Exposed ports increase router vulnerability, so close any unneeded open router ports.

  • Disable the associated applications or switch to alternate ports if available.
  • Allow only trusted IP addresses to utilize open ports.
