5G and the future 6G are two different generations of mobile communication technologies, and they are significantly different in many aspects. Here are the main differences between them:

5G VS 6G

5G/6G speed and bandwidth:

  • 5G: The theoretical peak download speed of 5G can reach tens of Gbps, which is a significant improvement compared to 4G. 5G also provides greater bandwidth and can support more devices for high-speed data transmission at the same time.
  • 6G: Although not yet fully determined, 6G is expected to further increase speeds and bandwidth, possibly reaching hundreds of Gbps or even higher. This will provide faster data transfer speeds for more application scenarios.

5G/6G latency:

  • 5G: 5G has lower latency, typically on the millisecond level. This makes 5G advantageous in applications that require real-time response, such as telemedicine, smart transportation, etc.
  • 6G: 6G is expected to further reduce latency, possibly achieving sub-millisecond latency. This will make more applications such as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), remote control, etc. more feasible.

5G/6G connection density:

  • 5G: 5G supports higher connection density and can connect more devices simultaneously. This provides better support for applications such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and smart cities.
  • 6G: It is expected that 6G will further increase the connection density and be able to support larger-scale device connections, including a large number of sensors, smart devices and robots.

New technologies and applications of 5G/6G:

  • 5G: 5G provides the foundation for many emerging technologies and applications, such as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), autonomous driving, etc.
  • 6G: 6G is expected to support more new technologies and applications, such as holographic communication, neural network interfaces, ultra-high-definition video transmission, etc., further expanding the application fields of communication technology.

5G 6G

In general, 6G will provide further improvements in speed, bandwidth, latency and connection density compared to 5G, providing support for more advanced application scenarios.
